Halo will be a seven-story anthology, stretching across eight individual episodes, tracing the historical precedent which gave birth to the Halo universe and its many characters. Halo 3 has punched its way through to the top spot on the Xbox LIVE Activity list again, after several weeks of oppression at the hands of Call of Duty: World at War, once again becoming the most played game on the service.
Call of Duty 4, Gears of War 2 and Madden NFL 10 follow after the two online behemoths.
Trials HD tops the Xbox LIVE Arcade sales chart, as Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords, Defense Grid: The Awakening, Shadow Complex and Sonic & Knuckles trail behind.
The Xbox LIVE Indie Games sales chart is once again dominated by I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES1, while Avatar Drop and Avatar Golf join in at the top of the list.

Going right into the demo, as you fall toward the planet in your drop pod, trying to land on an alien carrier. Of course, things go horribly wrong, and you wind up wrecked in the city. Game takes place weeks before the start of Halo 3, and you take on the role of a rookie separated from his team. ODST units get two unique weapons that Spartans actually don't. Fans of the original Halo pistol will LOVE the new ODST pistol.

One of the season’s most anticipated games is "Halo Wars," a real-time strategy prequel to the popular "Halo" series.
The switch from first-person shooter to strategy is only one of the changes in the series, which until now has focused on Master Chief, the lone remaining Spartan in the interstellar war against the alien Covenant. Dave Pottinger, lead designer for "Halo Wars," describes what’s up with the game, which is being developed by Ensemble Studios for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 console. The game is due to be released on March 3.

Microsoft's Major Nelson recently revealed some new statistics about the company's top games on Xbox Live during the last year. As it turns out, the top two games played on Microsoft's popular online service weren't even launched in 2008. It's also interesting to note that nearly half the games are shooters, showing the predominance of this category on Xbox Live.

Halo 3 players should avoid using the "install game to hard drive" feature of the just-released New Xbox Experience, warns Bungie.
One boon in installing games is a promise of decreased load times, but according to the development house installing Halo 3 has just the opposite effect.
"Installing to the HDD can make some games perform a little better while also putting a little less wear-and-tear on your DVD drive," Bungie representative SketchFactor wrote in a letter to the community.
"However, this isn’t to say that ALL games will see optimizations from being installed. In fact, in the case of Halo 3, the game will actually see increased loading times," he added before detailing the complexities of Halo 3's technology and explaining why the game has such an adverse reaction to installation.

As the September statistics show on Major Nelson’s blog, Halo 2 and Halo 3 are still some of the top played games on Xbox Live. Yes, Call of Duty 4 and Gears of War are also always on the list too, but you’re never going to find an empty multiplayer channel of Halo. Finding multiplayer competition for titles like Blacksite: Area 51, 007: From Russia With Love, The Outfit, or Fatal Inertia (just to name a few), is almost tougher to do than finding a Republican who doesn’t support the NRA. However, there’s never a shortage of players hounding Halo 2 and Halo 3, even if they aren’t actually playing. In fact, this conundrum extends beyond Xbox Live, and into other fields of online services for online console gaming.

The official title of the expansion, which will be a prequel to Halo 3, is Halo 3: Recon. Kinda generic but a title like Halo 3: Watch Out, The Covenant Is Here would've been too on-the-nose. The expansion is due in Fall 2009, apparently, meaning that the earlier rumor that it would arrive this January was false. That's a long time to wait, but it does indicate that this could be a pretty sizable expansion.

Bungie announced today that Title Update 2 has released for Halo 3. Primary among the enhancements are 10 new achievements. Also in Title Update 2 is a Playlist Ratings feature, which grants separate military ratings (based on EXP) in each playlist.
